Looking for an easy baby activity? Trying making a busy box!
Nothing like the sweet success of really entertaining a baby… am I right? There are some times in the day when you just need a minute to fold the laundry and a busy box will come to the rescue, my friend.

There’s nothing quite as easy as a busy box!
My 8 month old is one seriously busy baby so to keep our beloved second born entertained, I set up busy boxes all over our house once she was able to sit up on her own.
Yup, I make baby-friendly busy boxes and leave them in different rooms…
We have four dedicated busy boxes for Baby, I am absolutely kicking myself that I didn’t have this in place for my oldest. He can add that to his “things my mom didn’t do with me” list.
Here’s the 411 on what this easy baby activity is:
Basically, what I’ve made is baby safe boxes of goodness.
Think Baby’s Junk Drawer – all full of random toys and household items that I was too lazy to put away.
I have two downstairs, one in my bedroom, and one in the bathroom. And life is so much easier because of them. These are the places I’m often at with my baby when I need a minute of her entertained while I parent my toddler.

Wait. What’s in these boxes?
I kid you not, my baby will sit with these boxes for 20 minutes and pull out her random junk completely fixated on it:
- comb blocks
- teething rings
- ribbon
- camera chargers
- hair dryer attachments
- old cell phones
- RANDOM anything that isn’t chokable
I’m not kidding: there’s no rule here. Think box of baby-safe junk. This is an age group that LOVES a tv remote. The busy boxes are like an entire box of tv remotes.
My favorite busy box is the bathroom busy box…
Why the bathroom one? What’s so special about that?
Well, the one in the bathroom has a special hint of genius to it: everything in that box can go into the shower. I know, right?!
So in the event of a Stage 5 Clinger morning, my baby can even busy box in the shower with me.
The busy boxes answer all the questions of what to do with my baby.
Need to cook dinner: busy box.
Need to dress the toddler: busy box.
Need to stay in bed and supervise/parent her from under the covers for another 5 minutes (say it with me): busy box.
