A simple love story about having a Lego bath.
We can file this toddler bath time activity under “Why have I not been doing this FOREVER?” Because dear sweet Lego bath, where have you been all my life?
Ladies and gentlemen, this activity was an absolute win for us.

Setting up a Lego bath changed everything.
My toddler and I were having a “difference of opinion” morning (wink wink) and things were not going well.
On days like that, I like to take things back to neutral with a bath of sorts. Kind of like a do-over, a way to calm everyone down. Basically, in 90s kid language: a mid morning bath is our equivalent to blowing on a Nintendo cartridge.
It’s a reset.
I’ll never forget the first morning I did this activity:
This bath time activity idea hit me like a ton of bricks: “I’ll throw his Lego bin in the bath with him and see what happens”.
What happened was magical.
He made boats, cars, trains, and had a tiny tea party with Lego “cups”. And played for 45 minutes later. It was unreal.
By the time he came out of the tub he was happy, reset, and our day was saved. Hallelujah!
And this activity hasn’t failed me yet. It’s always a hit.
And you barely need any supplies for it…

- Lego Duplo
- Bath tub
- Semi-cranky toddler (wink)
The set-up:
Fill the bath tub, add the bin of duplos, watch the magic happen.
Oh, and here’s my favorite BONUS WIN:
The LEGO Duplos actually got cleaned for once and that’s a miracle in and of itself.
My toddler played in his LEGO Bath for so long!
No manner what’s happened in our day, the LEGO bath holds my kids’ attention.
Usually I have to add more water to the tub because they play until it gets cold.
This activity lasts so long.
Here’s how I get the LEGO Duplos OUT of the bath:
Once the bath is over (the toddler reset, the day saved, and the toys clean), I grab a colander to scoop the bricks out of the tub.
I lay them on a giant towel and make sure to flip them upright so the water drains out of the holes.
This is a great job for a toddler – happy helpers!
After a day or so, the bricks are dried out and ready to head back to the toy box.
Make sure to try this activity…
The next time you have a cranky toddler, a cranky parent, a sick kid, a long day, time ticking backwards or you just don’t know how you’re going to get to nap time: try a Lego Bath.
There’s something magical about this activity and that’s not a hyperbole.
Try this activity and you’ll see what I mean. It’s the absolute best.
When will your toddler try a Lego Bath?
