Try the Alphabet Cookie Match game for a delicious way to practice the ABCs.
I love alphabet matching activities with my toddler so when I found these alphabet cookies at the store, I just had to make a game out of them. Our alphabet cookie match was a tasty way to practice the ABCs.
Having children match alphabet letters is a great way to practice their “transfer knowledge” of the ABCs. That’s a fancy way of saying: making sure they know their letters in a variety of fonts, scripts, and mediums.

The set up for Alphabet Cookie Match was so easy!

- Alphabet cookies (we used these)
- Construction paper
I printed the letters on the alphabet neatly on two pieces of construction paper. My goal: Have my toddler match alphabet cookies to the corresponding printed letter.

I poured a solid amount of alphabet cookies into a plastic tub so they’d be a little more spread out and easier to distinguish. My toddler immediately began hunting for letters!

There were no real hiccups in this game – it was smooth sailing as my toddler hunted for letters to add to his sheet. A few times he found letters in duplicate…those ones were obviously eaten.

Extensions for Alphabet Cookie Match:
- Print the letters in lower case on the construction paper and have your child search for the upper case cookie match.
- Have children searching for sight words to create with the alphabet cookies.

This alphabet cookie match game was a perfect snack time activity for us. I can’t believe he actually found all 26 letters – I figured a few would be missing from the cookies box. Don’t worry, we didn’t eat all the cookies at the end…but we did make a good dent!
I love alphabet matching activities like this. If you do too, here are three more: Letter Hunt, ABC Match, and Sticky Alphabet Match.

This is so cute! I never would have thought to do this. I’m sure my kids would eat the cookies, but it’d be fun for a while!
