Does your home need a reset? Are you drowning in toys, art supplies, and random kid stuff? The power of decluttering cannot be overstated. Here’s my step-by-step plan to make it manageable.

What’s the best way to clean out kid clutter?
Nothing excites me more than transforming a space in my home from cluttered and chaotic to streamlined and sensible. In January, spring cleaning season, and September, especially – my urge to reorganize is STRONG. Particularly kid-focused items.
But sometimes I hit the ground running…a little too fast. No great plan, no systems, just a big black trash bag and frantic energy.
And how does that end? With a major case of mid-project regret and very little actual decluttering.
Not my finest moment.

How can decluttering be manageable?
I’ve learned the hard way that in order for decluttering to stick, it needs to be streamlined. I need a plan. Overtime, I’ve formed that plan and it’s worked well.
I want to help you with this too. Learn from my mistakes, learn from my successes, and work through kid-related clutter in a manageable, organized way.
Little by little, day by day – no burnout in sight.
You may have a big black trash bag in hand, but I’m urging you to set the frantic energy aside. Instead, have a daily goal that’s manageable, a larger plan in place, and bite-sized chunks to work through.

Why does decluttering matter?
Decluttering is great because it helps us feel better to live in a home that’s less cluttered and more organized. But the most important part? It helps our kids find their play.
Toys are the tools for childhood. When clutter gets in the way of toys and kids lose sight of their tools, play stalls.
Children use toys for the most important work they do: play. If a child can’t access or find a tool for their play, it’s as frustrating as when you misplace something in the kitchen or can’t find equipment in the garage for your next project.
Let’s think critically about our toy storage at home and help our kids find their tools. For them, and for us.
