Need an easy start to Fall? Try a Pumpkin Bath!
To kick off the month of October, we went with an ultra easy activity that took practically nothing to set up. Nothing makes you feel like Wonder Mom more than a seasonal activity that was just no big thang to get up and running. Pumpkin bath was the perfect way to start the fall/Halloween season with my son.
I’m pretty obsessed with kitchen sink activities – they are some of my favorite (floating letters, colander pour, water bead transfer), so making a pumpkin bath was just right for us.
Setting up a pumpkin bath was so easy!
Materials:
- Pumpkins
- Tear free bubble bath/body wash
- Brushes and sponges
I didn’t have a lot of time or energy to come up with any award winning pumpkin project but glitz and glamour just isn’t important to us. Fun and hanging out together: that’s what we’re after. So, while I worked away in the kitchen today cleaning and sprucing and doing my “chores”, Sam worked on his chore: washing the pumpkins and giving them a bath in the kitchen sink. I made sure to use tear free body wash as the bubbles just in case any jumped off the pumpkins and onto little faces.
I hoped he would like this but had not idea how into it he would get. These are the small pumpkins we are using for decoration this year – not the big soon-to-be Jack type pumpkins. They fit perfectly in my sink. I ended up getting five of them into our old sink.
I filled up the sink with bubble bath (obviously I keep a tear free bubble bath under the kitchen sink just for times like this) and added a few cleaning tools. I put half the pumpkins in and was about to ask my toddler to help me put the rest in when this happened:
We had a good laugh, bubbles went everywhere, and the pumpkin survived to tell the tale.
Pumpkin bath actually held my son’s attention for a solid 10 minutes – just long enough for me to get some things done which is exactly what I needed from it. And it was a great “intro to Halloween” activity so we’ll take it.
