It’s time to make dinner but you’ve got a toddler shadow. Try playing snow mobiles!
Sometimes, my toddlers are great about entertaining themselves while I make dinner. Sometimes….it’s like pulling teeth to just boil water. Finding quick, easy, and fun activities that they can do independently while I cook is huge for me. Snow mobiles is one of our go to activities (and I’ve got 6 more “dinner time” activities to share with you too!).
Setting up snow mobiles takes just seconds!

This is a simple one: take a storage tub. Add a cup or so of flour and a few little cars. Viola: snow mobiles. I know you’re laughing right now at how simple this is but I promise it’s a winner. My toddlers (3 yrs and 16 months) will sit by the kitchen table and play this for close to 20 minutes while I get dinner on.
Since there aren’t spoons or cups or scoops in with the flour, it seems to stay pretty contained. They aren’t dumping at all, just driving their cars through the flour and giggling up a storm. Every so often, I would come by with a spatula to “snow plow” the flour back into a big pile.
I’ve had the kids also play this outside on the patio and they love it just as much outside. It’s a surprisingly simple, fun toddler activity!
But this isn’t the only quick activity for dinner time prep.
Here are six other fantastic ideas for what toddlers can play while dinner is being made.
