This $7 bag of pom poms that I bought from Amazon has paid for itself in SPADES and this is just one of the countless activities I do with them. My son calls these his “projek s’plies” and I think it is fantastic. He saw them sitting out and literally begged for an activity to do with them. I had zero time to prep with a baby nearing meltdown status, so I quickly grabbed a muffin tin and a pair of tongs and he got the idea.
He sat transferring pom poms in and out of the muffin tin for a solid amount of time – enough time for me to talk the baby off the ledge which was a lot more than I EVER would have expected from something this simple and basic. After he had filled the tray a few times, I introduced the idea that he could sort the pom poms by putting all the red in one tin, all the blue in another, and so on and so on. Challenge accepted. This held his attention for another ridiculous amount of time with just a simple extension/adjustment. It was like the attention space clock had been reset completely.
Nothing like a little quick and easy activity to keep one kid occupied for 15 or so minutes while you handle the other kid, or the dishwasher, or the laundry, or the…well, you get the picture.
And finally – speaking of picture – judgy wudgy was a bear and probably had a really clean, pretty cupcake tin but not this momma. I cannot for the life of me keep something like this clean. I promise we are doing alright in life despite what this tin suggests…

Died laughing I swear we are doing ok in life despite what the cupcake tin suggests …you are hilarious and thank you for the great idea I have all of these already and needed something to keep my toddler busy tonight so I could clean my disgusting sticky crumb ridden house! (I promise we are doing alright too…but you know…2 year old) 😉
