It’s so easy to make a Halloween Post-it Match!
I’m all about the post-it matching activities, and oh my goodness have we done so many! We’ve done them with letters, numbers, shapes, and names… and Christmas symbols.
I learned the symbols / drawing trick from my friend at Toddler Approved.

The thing I love about Post-it Match activities is that they are so easy to personalize for kids or set up at exactly their level – from young toddlers to elementary age students. This activity just works for so many ages.

- Post-it notes
- Black marker
- White butcher paper
- Painter’s tape (wall safe tape)

On the white butcher paper, draw 8 Halloween-themed symbols: Jack-o-Lantern, bats, witch hat, candy, skeleton face, ghosts, spider, and crescent moon (which my kids 100% thought was a Halloween banana).
Grab your sticky notes and draw the same symbols there. I used two-different colors and repeated the symbols four times each for a total of 32 sticky notes to hide and find.

It’s a hide-n-seek Halloween activity!
I like to add a hiding element to this so I take the sticky notes and hide them around the house.
I started this activity by having my 7-year-old hide them for my 4-year-old. Over the next few days, all my kids hid these post-it notes, looked for them, and had a ball playing this.

After a week of playing, we decided to gift this activity to our favorite 2-year-old neighbor who had a ball playing it with her 6-year-old brother.
When I say this activity works for all, I mean it!
Halloween Post-It Match is KID-sufficient
…meaning the kids handled the set up and I handled the sitting back and watching this well-oiled machine take over.

My kids set this up for EACH OTHER, making it basically an activity unicorn.
What an easy activity to set up!
And it’s not all fun and games (it is!!), but it’s also full of learning.

When a child is doing a matching activity like this, they’re working on their visual discrimination skills to be able to tell the difference between two symbols. While that seems simple, that’s exactly what’s happening when a child is reading (they’re looking for differences in symbols) so you can consider this a pre-reading activity too.
It’s also full of gross motor skills as we kids get up and moving to find the post-its.
