Looking for some bath time fun? Try this color bath!
I love bath time activities. They are one of my favorite ways to play: messes get contained, toddlers get clean, bath time gets turned up a notch. There’s so much fun to be had! Doing a color bath is one way to add a little learning and a lot of fun into the tub.

Setting up a color bath is so easy!

- Food coloring (optional)
- Objects of a single color
- Bath tub
- Excited toddler
Making a color bath for your toddler is crazy simple. Take a basket and walk around your house looking for objects of a single color.
Have your toddler be a part of this and make it a fun color hunt around your house. Look for balls, plastic toys, scoops – anything in the color you selected.
Dye the water for extra fun
For extra color, I like to put a few drops of food coloring into the water. This is fine for me and my family, but I know it may make others uncomfortable. As for me, I’ve never had any problems with it dying skin or toddler bodies.
The dye is so diluted by the bath tub (we are talking a few drops for that whole tub) that we haven’t had any problems. It makes the bath just that much more special.
Color baths are a riot!
I love setting up a color bath when my kids are working on learning their colors. It’s a great way to focus on a single color and really call out and identify that particular color.
My kids love helping me put our color baths together – selecting the color, finding the objects around the house, adding the dye, and finally taking the bath. The set up is an activity all its own!
Color baths always last forever in our house. Something about the extra fun of having just one color in the tub makes these baths more special. My kids will stay and play in a color bath until all the water goes cold.
They just love taking color baths and ask for them all the time.
Try a color bath at your house!
If you have a toddler working on color names, this is a great activity to try. Make a color bath to spice up bath time with your kids.
