Build an outdoor themed Easter basket for your little bunny!
I was wandering through a craft store today, glanced at the already on sale Easter decorations and thought, “Geesh, on sale already!”
Then I realized Easter is a week away and I have done nothing to prepare. Insert the cry laugh emoji for my hot mess of a life. Oh well, good thing I have Easter baskets down to a science and can whip them up speedy quick for my toddlers.
I love a good Easter basket moment
I love Easter baskets BUT I also love things that are usable, realistic and not going to add to the toy-palooza that already engulfs my kids. That’s why every year I make them a simple outdoor themed Easter basket.
Since Easter falls at the start of Springtime, what a perfect chance to get kids the items they will need for a bang up spring and summer. And since it’s outdoor themed items, there’s nothing to add to the toy boxes inside…
My ideas for a great outdoor themed Easter basket are pretty awesome.
I’m not going to lie – it may be a simple, cost effective outdoor themed Easter basket but it’s a pretty great Easter basket each year. Of course I vary it up and rotate in and out what we actually “need” but for the most part, here’s what my Easter basket looks like year in and year out.

Kids Tool Set: I love having real tools for my son to use in the yard and he needs some new ones. This set is awesome with a trowel, rake and shovel. I see lots of digging adventures with these!
Foam Rollers: Foam rollers like this are perfect for outdoor painting. I love having an extra set of fun painting supplies for outside activities only. This set has so many great textures and shapes – I’m in love!
Seed Packets: Back when I was a busy toddler (wink), my parents always included seed packets in my Easter basket and I loved it! I love carrying on this simple tradition with my toddler.
Sidewalk Chalk: A new warm season, a new set of chalk. It’s just how it has to be! Our chalk from last year is looking pretty tired. This fresh set should get the creative outdoor juices flowing!
Popsicle Trays: I love making homemade popsicles with my toddler and this Munchkin Inc set has been perfect for us. The base is a loop so it’s easier to hold then a stick – this was actually part of his basket last year but I had to include it as an idea for you all. Fits perfect with the outdoor theme!
Beach Toy Set: What Spring/Summer isn’t complete without a new beach toy sets? This set is AWESOME for sand boxes, water tables, and giant dirt piles in your yard. It’s the perfect set for our outdoor Easter basket.
Paint with Water Supplies: Foam brushes and a cup with a handle are the best tools to paint with water. Your kiddo will love painting rocks and the sidewalk with their foam brushes. The bucket is perfect for holding just enough water for a toddler or preschooler. These brushes don’t last long so we’ll be getting a big pack like this this year!
Insect Catching Kit: Who doesn’t love catching a few bugs and observing them? This kit invites so much awesome science play. Work with your kiddo to safely grab bugs to watch before releasing them. I can’t wait to catch a few ants and worms with my toddler!
Bubble Blower: The best bubble blower I’ve found! Ours met it’s demise (it got run over) and I’m so excited I found it again! You attach this to the top of a bubbles container and pull back the handle to send tons and tons of bubbles into the sky. This made bubble life so great since my toddler could work it himself. I can’t wait for him to see this in his Easter basket!
Spray Bottle: Best outdoor supply we own – a simple spray bottle. We spray flowers, we spray rocks, we spray wood. Even though my toddler has 3 (THREE!), I’ll still put a new one in his basket. He loves them way too much.
Kite: Who doesn’t love to fly a kite? It’s practically magical to see them sore! I’m so excited to add this to my son’s basket this year.
Watering Can: My daughter is obsessed with watering the flowers. Right now, she uses a measuring cup so this will be a big upgrade.
Creating an outdoor themed Easter basket for my toddler has been so much fun. I hope you liked all my ideas! I’d love to hear your Spring / Summer staples for your kiddos.
